Miss Belgium 2012.. another beauty
Belgium elected its second black miss Belgium. The first was Tatiana Silva, Miss Belgium 2005, who was of Cape Verdean origin. This time its Laura Beyne, a 19 year old girl from Brussels. Her father is Belgian, her mother Congolese. She is perfectly bilingual and thus represents both major linguistic communities of Belgium.
Since 2000 several women of African origin were elected miss in their respective countries. They are nearly all mixed race. Below I will list the ones I know about.

Thursday night was also a triumph for the cast of The Artist, a silent movie shot in black and white. The film bagged trophies including best picture, score, costume design and director.
"I made a silent movie," French director Michel Hazanavicius joked in English while accepting his accolade. "I don't like to speak so much."

Cruise Ship accident in Italy…
PORTO SANTO STEFANO, Italy (AP) – A luxury cruise ship ran aground off the coast of Tuscany, sending water pouring in through a 160-foot gash in the hull and forcing the chaotic evacuation of some 4,200 people from the listing vessel early Saturday. Three bodies were recovered from the sea.
There were reports that three other people had died after the accident late Friday night near the tiny Tuscan island of Giglio, but those reports were not yet confirmed, Coast Guard Cmdr. Francesco Paolillo said.
Twelve hours after the accident, the ship was lying virtually flat, its right side submerged in the water.
Passengers complained the crew failed to give instructions on how to evacuate the Costa Concordiaand that the evacuation drill was only scheduled for Saturday afternoon. Authorities still hadn't counted all the survivors.
"It was so unorganized, our evacuation drill was scheduled for 5 p.m.," said Melissa Goduti, 28, of Wallingford, Connecticut, who had set out on the cruise of the Mediterranean hours earlier. "We had joked what if something had happened today."
Helicopters plucked to safety some 50 people who were trapped on the ship after it listed so badly they couldn't launch lifeboats, Paolillo told The Associated Press in Rome by telephone from his command in the Tuscan port city of Livorno. Some survivors were rescued by boats in the area. Coast guard rescuers were continuing to search the ship for passengers.
Passenger Mara Parmegiani, a journalist, told the ANSA news agency that "it was like a scene from the Titanic."read more

The Japanese Government is paying young men to fall in Love, have sex and have babies. As you may guess, the young men refused . Japan's population is getting smaller so to try to boost the birth rate, payments have been introduced for parents and steps have been made to improve access to child care
But a government survey has revealed a big problem: over a third of young men and more young women have no interest in sex. The government-commissioned study finds that young Japanese men are losing their interest in sex, yet another warning sign in a nation notorious for its low birth rate. read more.

Some of the projects and allocations are as follow:
WORKS
• N11bn is allocated to the Abuja-Lokoja road in the 2012 Budget, with an additional N14bn from the SURE-P.
• N6bn is allocated to Benin-Ore-Shagamu, with an additional N16.5bn to be financed through SURE-P.
• N3bn is allocated to Port-Harcourt–Onitsha road, with an additional N5bn from the SURE-P.
• Similarly, N18.5bn is allocated to Kano-Maiduguri road, with an additional N1.5bn from SURE-P.
• Provision is made in the 2012 budget for construction of the Second Niger Bridge (N2bn) and Oweto Bridge (N3.5bn). An additional N5.5bn and N4bn would be spent on both bridges respectively from the SURE-P.
• Provision of N23.5bn is made for maintenance of roads and bridges across the country through Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA).read more

Slimmed down Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin to wed her 'forever friend'
Congratulations are in order for the Queen of Soul: she’s getting married.
Aretha Franklin, 69, has announced her engagement to long-term companion William ‘Willie’ Wilkerson, whom she once described as her ‘forever friend’.
The music legend, who has been married twice before and has four children, revealed plans to tie the knot over the summer with the former fire fighter from Detroit.
“We’re looking at June or July for our date,” she said, before joking: “and no, I’m not pregnant, LOL!”.
The superstar wants to follow the ceremony, which is apparently to take place in Florida, with a reception on a private yacht.
As for the all-important dress, Aretha is considering top designers Vera Wang, Valentino and Donna Karan.
Her wedding will give the soul diva a perfect opportunity to showcase her new figure – she's thought to have lost up to six stone in the last year.
And she recently said she's feeling “fabulous” again following a mystery health problem in 2010
Golliwog doll pulled from Australian store so as not offend Oprah during her tour of Australia……..
The UK blog Madnews wrote that a doll shop in Australia has withdrawn a female golliwog soft toy from its prominent window display to avoid offending the Oprah Winfrey roadshow Down Under.
The store in Melbourne, Victoria, removed the ‘Mamee’ washer woman dolls following a visit by Oprah’s production company ahead of a personal appearance by the popular 56-year-old U.S. talk show host.
Golliwogs are deeply offensive because of their perceived links to slavery and racism.read more..
British Girl Kills Herself Because Her Boyfriend Canceled Cinema Date
A teenage model killed herself under a train after a text from a boy cancelling a date at the cinema, an inquest heard today. Gabrielle Joseph, 16, told friends on Facebook: ‘I am going to kill myself tonight’ because she was so upset at being turned down for the date, due on the following night.

Man turns himself in, confessing to infecting 3,000 women AND men with HIV
David Dean Smith deliberately set out to infect as many men and women with the HIV virus he had and in his quest, had unprotected sex with as many as 3,000 people over the course of several years. Having achieved his goal, he turned himself in to the Michigan Police last week.
While it is unclear when exactly he was diagnosed with the virus, one of the two women who have been officially identified as being infected by him, says she “hooked up” with David Smith back in 2008 .
She said that once she was tested, she immediately knew it was Smith who infected her. Calling him a “sociopath and a ‘predator’, she said the two met through a Yahoo! Personals listing.
