Strauss Kahn -Nafissatou Diallo
Hush money
Representatives of the former International Monetary fund director Dominique Strauss-Kahn, accused of sexually assaulting a maid in a Manhattan Hotel on May 14, have reportedly tried to offer her family in Guinea over a million dollars in hush money to make the case go away. That's the story in today's New York Post, which cites a "French businesswoman with close ties to Strauss-Kahn and his family." The source reportedly told the paper, "For sure, it's going to end on a quiet note."
The alleged victim in the case has been kept from the media, the public, and Strauss-Kahn's representatives. That's why his people reportedly approached her people in Guinea, a former French colony that is well outside the reach of the New York District Attorney's office. The source told the Post that the offer reached into the seven figures, and said, "He'll get out of it and will fly back to France. He won't spend time in jail. The woman will get a lot of money."
The maid's family lives in a very poor village in Guinea where the average income is $45, reports the Post. "They live so off-the-grid in a remote village that they didn't know the maid was allegedly nearly raped until reporters trekked to the village to inform them."
But the alleged offer may still not keep Strauss-Kahn out of court, and even prison. The maid can refuse to testify, but the criminal case can still proceed, and prosecutors have already said they have DNA evidence linking Strauss-Kahn to the scene.
In a separate report, the local Fox affiliate in New York ran a story last night quoting Strauss-Kahn as saying, "don't you know who I am!" as he allegedly pinned her down and tried to rape her. Reportedly quoting from the maid's complaint to police, the Fox report has some graphic details of the alleged assault:
The maid said she tried a variety of tactics to get herself out of the room and away from Strauss-Kahn. She said, “my manager is in the hallway,” which he wasn’t -- but the former IMF chief wasn’t scared off. The single mother allegedly told the Frenchman that the job was important to her and any conflict with a hotel guest would result in her losing her job.
“Please stop. I need my job, I can’t lose my job, don’t do this. I will lose my job. Please, please stop! Please stop!” she told Strauss-Kahn, according to law enforcement sources.
Strauss-Kahn allegedly responded: “No, baby. Don’t worry, you’re not going to lose your job. Please, baby, don’t worry,” Strauss-Kahn responded, according to investigators. “Don’t you know who I am? Don’t you know who I am?”
Also, lending credence to the reports yesterday that Strauss-Kahn's DNA had been linked to semen found on the maid's work clothing, The New York Times has a source that confirmed the information. That story also says the maid picked Strauss-Kahn out of a police lineup. Strauss-Kahn, for his part, remains under house arrest in the temporary apartment at 71 Broadway, awaiting his next court date on June 6.

Recipe of the day
Liberian rice bread
Yield: 8 x 12-inch bread
This rice bread is the typical recipe used by the Liberian housewife. It is not too sweet, can be used as a coffee cake or as a bread, and stays moist for a full week. So if you are someone like me who love dieting then you have no problem. Remember, eat one serving only….
In a 4 quart bowl:
Combine: 2 cups CREAM OF RICE (cereal)
3 cups MASHED BANANAS
1/2 cup VEGETABLE OIL
4 Tbs. SUGAR
1/2 tsp. NUTMEG
1 tsp. SALT
1 cup WATER
1 tsp. BAKING SODA.
Stir until thoroughly blended.
Bake in a well-greased 8 x 12-inch rectangular or 9-inch round cake pan at 400' for 30 minutes.
Test with a toothpick (when it comes out dry, bread is done)
buon appetito!!!

History of shoes
Shoes from 12 to 15 century..
It’s fantastic!! I thought it’s nice to share it with you.
These shoes are awesome..
Step into a modern shoe store and take a look around. High-heeled and platform shoes, boots, sandals, moccasins, wooden-heeled clogs, quite a variety for today’s shopper. Recent fashions? Well, not one of the footwear styles you see today is less than 400 years old! The History of Shoes is indeed interesting.
The loftiest high-heeled and platform shoes you can find today are flat pumps compared with some of the shoes in fashion during earlier European eras. to read more go here..

Hell fire:
a nigerian sinner died and went to hell. On getting there he saw that each country had its own hell,so he set out to look for the hell with the least level of punishment. He decided to make enquiries at the german hell and he was told that he would sit on an electric chair for one 1hr and lie on a bed of nails for another 1 hr, then be flogged by the german devil. He tried others but they were all the same until he got to the nigerian hell and met a long line, what's wrong? he asked, he was told that due to constant power failure the electric hardly worked! the contractor that was supposed to supply the bed of nails had absconded with the money, the nigerian devil that was to conduct the flogging was a civil servant and was hardly ever seen at work except to sign in and out,so the sinner settled for the nigerian hell! at least he could relax for a long time before his term for punnishment comes

UK ordered 'virginity tests' on migrants
LONDON – Newly discovered documents indicate that the British government concealed how often it administered so-called "virginity tests" to female immigrants hoping to enter the country in the 1970s on marriage visas.
The documents, unearthed by legal researchers Marinella Marmo and Evan Smith from Australia's Flinders University, showed that the tests — meant to prove that women coming into Britain to marry were virgins — had been administered more than 80 times.
Although the tests first drew condemnation in the late 1970s, the extent to which the practice had taken place was not clear until now. The British government had previously acknowledged only two cases, both done at Heathrow Airport. to read more go here

Nigeria denies visa to ex-US ambassador
LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) – Nigeria says it has denied a visa to a former U.S. ambassador who has raised concerns over the stability of Africa's most populous nation.
A spokesman for the Nigeria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs told The Associated Press Wednesday that the West African's nation mission in Washington, D.C. refused former ambassador John Campbell a visa to Nigeria.
Damien Agu said Campbell "did not meet the visa requirements."
Campbell, a former envoy to Nigeria is now a fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.
His book titled "Nigeria: Dancing on the Brink" is critical of the country's political class and his articles have raised concerns that members of a radical Muslim sect active in Nigeria's northeast could form ties with al-Qaida.
ANOTHER MIRACLE
East Midlands, England, UK - A black couple, Francis Tshibangu and his wife Arlette, told yesterday of their shock and mystification when their son was born with white skin and blond hair. FRANCIS TSHIBANGU admitted: 'My first thought was "Wow, is he really mine?".' He and his wife Arlette already have a two-year-old boy, Seth, whose features reflect his African parentage. But it is thought that baby Daniel, now 11 weeks old, has a slight genetic mutation. He is not an albino.

IS HATE IMMAGINARY? OR IS IT IN THE MIND?
Let your haters be your motivators!” This phrase suggests that we should use the negative comments and opinions of others as fuel to propel us towards success. It also suggests that we are at the center of someone else‘s world; that we are “special” because they have fixed a laser-like focus upon us. They covet what we have. They want to do what we do. They actually want to BE us, and it kills them that they can’t be! We are on stage and our “haters” make up the audience. Our little egos take over and we go all in; working it and giving the performance of a lifetime.
And this is how we get caught up. We take note of every look and every comment—looking for signs of the hate and seeking confirmation from others that we are indeed being hated on. It’s all about us, all the time. We enjoy the spotlight; preening, prancing and twirling as we derive a sense of accomplishment from watching others suffer in their toxic thoughts. We are somehow validated by their misery.
But, let’s be clear about one thing: what we call being hated on is merely another person’s reaction to a SELF-generated perception of themselves, other people, or the world. And that perception is that life for them is unfair, or that they are somehow not good enough. We do nothing to inspire anyone’s hatred, envy or jealousy. We can only be the target. When we allow our egos to take someone else’s negative behavior towards us as a compliment, what we are telling ourselves is that their diminished state of being is what makes us “good”, “better”, or ”best.” Our story is that the more they hate on us, the better off we must be. And in this place, who are we being that we would use this as a tool to measure our success?
No, we cannot control what others think or say about us. But, let’s not flatter ourselves with stories of inspiring HATE in others. We don’t need haters to motivate us. All we need is confidence in our own ability to be, do and have whatever it is that we want. Belief is the fuel.

JOKE OF THE DAY 2
A boy named Black Boy was going to school.
On his way, he prayed that if God helped him find 5,000Euro's he will give 1,000 back to God. After his prayer to God, he found 4,000 Euro's on the ground. He was really excited and said to himself
Oh! God has already taken his share

The Three Nuns:
Three nuns on a train were getting to know one another and
decided to tell each other what their greatest sins were.
The first nun..., "My greatest sin is sex. Every year I go out for a
week and work as a prostitute. Of course, I put all the money I earn
into the poor box."
The second nun..., "My greatest sin is drinking. Every year I take
the money from the poor box and go out drinking for a solid week."
The third just sits there quietly.
So the first nun says to her, "Come on, we've told you our worst sins.
Now you have to tell us yours."
The third nun says, "My greatest sin is that I gossip, and I can't wait
to get off this train!"

Nafissatou Diallo the hotel maid Dominique Strauss kahn tried to rape...

A hotel maid, Nafissatou Diallo, who says IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn tried to rape her was due to testify before a New York grand jury on Wednesday, as the French presidential hopeful faced growing pressure to resign.
A lawyer for the 32-year-old African widow dismissed a suggestion by Strauss-Kahn's defense counsel that the incident at the luxury Times Square Sofitel last Saturday might not have been a sexual assault.
"There's nothing consensual about what took place in that hotel room," attorney Jeffrey Shapiro told NBC's "Today" show, adding he believed she would testify "at some point today."
The arrest dashed Strauss-Kahn's prospects for the French presidency and raised broader questions over the future of the International Monetary Fund. Developing countries, looking to a succession, have questioned Europe's hold on the post.
The United States, the IMF's biggest shareholder, said Strauss-Kahn was clearly unable to go on running the global lender from a prison cell, whatever the legal outcome.
"I can't comment on the case, but he is obviously not in a position to run the IMF," Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said on Tuesday, calling for an interim head to be named.
European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said Europe would naturally put forward a candidate to replace him if Strauss-Kahn decided to step down.
Germany, which wants a European to keep the job, said the IMF should deal with its immediate leadership internally and it was too early to discuss a successor to Strauss-Kahn.
French officials said John Lipsky, the IMF's American number two, whose term expires in August, would represent the Fund at next week's Group of Eight summit in Deauville, France.

Oprah Winfrey: Time to Say Goodbye
CHICAGO – Oprah Winfrey wiped away tears as celebrity after celebrity surprised her during a farewell double-episode taping of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" that will precede her finale.
The crowd gave Winfrey a standing ovation when she first walked on the stage. Then the stars came out, with Winfrey's producers making good on their promise of the biggest celebrities of movies, music and television.
Winfrey announced in November 2009 that she would end her popular talk show after 25 years. Tuesday's taping will air May 23 and 24, before Winfrey's final show on May 25.
The show highlighted Winfrey's charity efforts over the years. About 300 Morehouse College scholarship students walked along the United Center aisles as Kristen Chenoweth sang "For Good" from the musical "Wicked." Grammy winner John Legend was beamed in from a New Orleans school and Winfrey's book club was lauded for getting millions to read.
"You always had the power, and that is the message you brought into our lives," Cruise told Winfrey.
Winfrey's longtime partner, Stedman Graham, introduced Franklin after telling Winfrey he loved her and was proud of her.
Beyonce sang her song "Run the World (Girls)" backed by dozens of dancers. Rascal Flatts performed too.
"Oprah Winfrey, because of you women everywhere have graduated to a new level of understanding of who we are, of what we are and most of all who we can be," Beyonce said.
The only woman in the world that can make a NBA game play a day later.
I am impressed…

JOKE OF THE DAY...
Eleven people were hanging on a rope under a helicopter, ten men and one woman. The rope was not strong enough to carry them all,
so they decided that one has to drop off, otherwise they are all going to fall. They were not able to choose that person, but then the
woman made a very touching speech. She said that she would voluntarily let go of the rope, because as woman she was used to giving
up everything for her husband and kids, and for men in general, without ever getting anything in return. As soon as she finished her
speech, all the men started clapping their hands.
